Christmas comes early to the Finnish Church in London

The traditional Christmas Fair of the Finnish Church in London will be held at the end of November. You can enjoy the Christmas spirit at the biggest annual Finnish event in the UK from 19th till 21st and from 24th till 27th of November.

You can even meet Santa Claus himself! (photo: Finnish Church in London)The Christmas Fair is by far the biggest annual event of the Finnish Church in London. In addition to Christmas shopping there’s a possibility to taste Finnish delicacies such as sausages, reindeer fry and pastries. Naturally, Santa Claus himself will be present at the fair.

According to Reverend Teemu Hälli, the most popular product has traditionally been rye bread. Among other best-sellers are Finnish chocolate, mulled wine and Christmas casseroles. Hälli predicts that a new hit product this year might be a living jukebox playing the favourite Christmas carols on request. Moreover, there are Finnish design, glassware and Christmas decorations on offer. Most of the products on sale at the Christmas Fair are not available anywhere else in the United Kingdom.

In order to organise the event, voluntary staff is needed. “All help is heartily welcomed and volunteers may enroll until the beginning of the Fair”, Vicar says. “In return, the volunteers receive discounts, gift vouchers and – last but not least – a unique view to an interesting event. Volunteers from outside London may stay overnight at the Church free of charge.”
