HEL YES! - Food and Design from Helsinki

Can furniture be made from trees thinned out from the forest? Can a new dinner set be created from donated plates? Can a restaurant gather ingredients straight from the forest? Can something new come out of foraging the old? HEL YES!, a temporary restaurant and exhibition in London's Design Week is imagined and realised by a creative team of Finnish designers and food visionaries. Read more

William Hague and Alexander Stubb comment on Turkey

British foreign secretary William Hague and the Finnish foreign minister Alexander Stubb call for their European Union counterparts to recognise Turkey’s increasing role and influence on the world stage. Darkness - a positive resource for 2011 Capital of Culture Turku

The Turku Capital of Culture programme examines the familiar Nordic periods of darkness from a positive perspective. The programme has identified 876 shades of darkness, challenging the participators to face both culture and darkness with an open mind. Darkness is not serious and gloomy; it is a source of strength, inspiration and warmth. We want to show how people live and laugh amidst the darkness from late autumn to early spring. Read more
