Turku kicks off year of culture        

For all of 2011, Turku enjoys the status of European Capital of Culture, ushering in a schedule of hundreds of unique events that engage audiences and encourage interaction. In Finnish the theme for the year is Turku palaa, which can mean either "Turku is burning" or "Turku returns." Read more

Finnish photographers top class of wildlife photography

The world's finest wildlife photographs are currently on display at the Natural History Museum in London. Finnish photographers are well represented in the exhibition, with Esa Mälkönen's image of Antarctica penguins currently voted as one of the most popular in the show. Read more

We Finns are on a first-name basis with design; it forms a familiar part of our daily lives. We are well acquainted with the design pedigrees of our kitchen cupboards, stocked with Arabia tableware and Iittala glassware that we use on a daily basis. Family policy, innovations and green economy on UK Nordic Baltic Summit agenda

The UK Nordic Baltic Summit, first of its kind, brought together Prime Ministers, policy innovators and entrepreneurs from the nine countries to discuss how best to boost economic growth, enterprise and job creation while improving people’s wellbeing. Mari Kiviniemi, Prime Minister of Finland, regarded the summit as a promising initiative. Read more

The newest issue of Focus on the Economy and Technology, a magazine created for key audiences in Finland’s major export markets, presents the country’s strong points to the world in articles about water expertise, education, energy, design and more.
