Sofi Oksanen's 'Purge' debuts on London stage

Author Sofi Oksanen's Purge, an international sensation, will be seen for the first time on stage in the UK in February as Borealis Theatre brings the British premiere of Purge to London’s Arcola Theatre. Narrated through multiple story lines, Purge moves back and forth across time in a powerful drama that offers an unflinching exploration of the loss of freedom and the bitter price of survival. Embedding design in life - Helsinki's WDC 2012 programme announced in London

A heritage of design excellence, represented by names such as Aalto, Iittala, Nokia and Marimekko, bears testament to the importance of Finnish design and its influence around the world. Partly in recognition of this inheritance of good design, and the way in which it has been integrated into the Finnish capital, Helsinki was chosen to be World Design Capital in 2012 by Icsid, the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design. The programme for Helsinki's WDC year was announced in London. Read more

Moomins take over London's Covent Garden

If you love the Moomins (and who doesn’t?) you’ll be thrilled to know that they now have their very own shop. Situated in the centre of one of London’s most popular shopping areas at 43 Covent Garden Market, the Moomin Shop is full of a vast array of wonderful products in a magical Moomin setting. Present at the official launch were both Pekka Huhtaniemi, Ambassador of Finland, and Sophia Jansson, niece of Tove and Creative Director of Moomin Characters Ltd. Read more

Football fan's dream job - with work included

Few football fanatics can deny dreaming of actually getting paid to follow world-class football and to get to analyze this great game for a living. Working as a football correspondent, especially in the UK, surely would be a dream job for many. But for correspondents, the actual match is only a small part of the working day as preparing for the round has already begun days earlier and regularly the day continues late into night after the final whistle. We talked to a Finnish football correspondent in London. Read more
