Team Finland’s 56 athletes aim to Olympic success in London. The latest additions to the team are hammer thrower David Söderberg, 3000 meter hurdler Jukka Keskisalo and weightlifter Miika Antti-Roiko. The Finnish Team has the strongest representation in track and field, sailing and swimming. The official target for Team Finland in the London games, set by the National Olympic Committee, is three medals and for six athletes to finish in the top eight.
Olympic Team Finland consists of 56 athletes. Out of the 26 Olympic sports Finland has the biggest representation in track and field with 17 athletes. In terms of medals, Finland’s highest hopes in the London Olympics are in sailing, shooting, canoeing - and traditionally – in men's javelin.
The Finnish Olympic Committee has set three medals as the official target for the London games. "The goal is challenging, but possible, and we can do even better with success”, commented director of coaching Kari Niemi-Nikkola on the objectives.
