Martina (Tina) McKenzie has been appointed a new Honorary Consul of Finland in Belfast. Ms McKenzie was appointed on 6th November 2017. Her predecessor, Mr Kenneth Hunter, retired in January 2017. Ms McKenzie's nomination covers the whole Northern Ireland.
Ms McKenzie is the Managing Director of award-winning Staffline Group companies in Ireland with a 20 year multinational career in employment and business services spanning various markets.
Finland has about 400 honorary consulates around the world. Ms McKenzie’s tasks as the Honorary Consul include promoting economic, political, academic and cultural relations between Finland and the Northern Ireland, and monitoring the rights of Finnish citizens in the area. She can also for example guide and assist with contacts to the local authorities or the embassy.
“With the former Finnish Prime Minister, the late Harri Holkeri, having been instrumental to the Good Friday Agreement, there is a strong collaborative history between Northern Ireland and Finland. I am honoured to have a role in further developing relations between our two countries and in supporting Finnish citizens who have chosen to live in and visit Northern Ireland,” said Ms McKenzie.
