Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö will attend the event to mark the reaching of full operating capability of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), led by Great Britain, and to sign a common memorandum of understanding (CMOU).
The event will take place in London on 28.6.2018. The CMOU will be signed by the defence ministers of the countries currently participating in the JEF: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
Built around the British-led force, cooperation aims at providing support to the development and maintenance of military capabilities of the participating countries. Finland’s participation is based on the need to develop the Defence Forces’ capabilities and interoperability.
Participation will also deepen defence cooperation between Finland and Great Britain and with other countries taking part in the JEF. The President of the Republic and the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy have outlined that Finland will participate in the activities of the JEF.
