The Finnish Embassy’s Consular Section serves Finnish citizens and foreigners living permanently in Finland with matters involving Finnish authorities, such as passports, notary services and certain specific legal transactions, family law, citizenship and military service.
The Consular Section assists Finnish citizens in distress, gives information on the services provided by Finnish authorities and the legal protection available to private citizens, and advises on general procedures related to legal or administrative matters in Finland and the UK. The Finnish Embassy also arranges for absentee voting in Finnish elections.
Foreign citizens can consult the Embassy’s Consular Section on matters related to visas and entry permits (e.g. residence permits).
The Consular Section’s customer service on matters concerning Finnish passports and notarial services is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, on Wednesdays from 9.00am to 12.00noon, on Thursdays 9.00am to 12.00noon and 2.00pm to 4.00pm, on Fridays from 9.00am to 12.00noon and 2.00pm to 3.00pm.
Until 3 November 2016 no appointment is needed for passport and notarial services. As from 4 November 2016, you will need to make an appointment in advance for these services.
For our Consular Section's customer service for visas to Finland, we are open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.00am to 12.00noon. All visa customers need to make an appointment in advance by using the online booking system.
The Consular Section answers telephone enquiries (+44 (0)20 7838 6200) on Mondays 9.00am to 10.00am and Mondays,Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.00pm to 4.00pm. The Consular Section is closed on British and Finnish public holidays.
