Finland became an independent state on 6 December 1917. The centenary of Finland’s independence in 2017 will be the most significant commemorative year for this generation of Finns. The Embassy of Finland in London is now gathering information about events planned in the UK.
We are now collecting information of the events all around the UK. If you are arranging an event celebrating Finland's centenary, please let us know by filling in the form below! We will publish events at our Events calendar too.
The theme of the centenary year is ‘Together’. Accordingly, the Finland 100 programme will be a joint effort, built together by the Finnish people and friends of Finland.

Finland's centenary celebration year starts in the beginning of 2017 and culminates in Finland's Independence Day on 6th December. The first third of the year will concentrate on Finland's history over the past 100 years. The programme in the summer months will mostly concentrate in outdoor events in order to enjoy the lovely Finnish summer. On the third weekend of August the countdown starts for 'Hundred days till Hundred'.
While overall responsibility for putting the programme together rests with the ‘Finland100’ -organisation, anyone can propose a project to be included in the Finland100 programme. Applications are received up to the end of October 2017. Please check the following website for instructions: suomifinland100.fi.
